How to wear Jeans to work

Happy Monday....can I just say that I would rather have it freezing cold than wet & cold anyday! There goes my Monday rant...lol

Doing my daily read on Instyle.com and I came across this lovely article, had to share it with you guys. If unlike me, you are allowed Casual Fridays, well and any other day you can get away with coming into work casual, then you might love this just as much as we do ( I left most of the article the way they have it on their site, it is too good to amend). So here goes...

Get a Boyfriend Blazer
For a classic look, try upgrading a sleek pair of jeans with a structured blazer, like Sarah Jessica Parker in a black velvet number & dark denim or a bright white tuxedo design and lighter/acid-washed pair, like Gywenth Paltrow's. Think suit and match light colors with light and dark with dark.

Embrace Sequins

A bit of shimmer is an instant outfit upgrade. If you are a risk-taker (and your office is fashion-forward), try a bolder sequined piece, like Rachel Bilson's eye-popping blazer. For a more understated look, try a shimmery tank under a cropped jacket a la Rihanna.

Throw On a Cardigan

Embellished sweaters lend retro charm to a pair of jeans. Look for crafty details that will dress up denim, like Penelope Cruz's frilly ruffles or Heidi Klum's beading.

Buy a Silk Blouse

A sweet silk blouse give your jeans a feminine feel - look for tops with pretty patterns or intricate necklines. If your workplace is more formal, skip distressed denim (like Eva Longoria-Parker bootcuts) in favor of crisp pair of dark-wash jeans such as Katherine Heigi's skinnies.

Try a Little Leather Jacket

A cropped leather jacket gives a jeans-and-a-T-shirt look a luxurious spin. Just skip the heavy motorcycle jackets in favor of light, soft skins in classic colors, like gray (Nicole Kidman) or brown (Malin Akerman) or black. Add a feminine touch with accessories like a great pair of heels and a fun bag.

Look For a Chic Button-Down

A crisp button-down shirt  is a no-fall piece for the office. For a streamlined appearance, tuck a light-hued blouse into matching skinny jeans like Kate Moss's and take it to the next level with chic heels and a status bag. Or, if your workplace is more laid-back, try a patterned version, like Sienna Miller's and add boots and a bright satchel.

Here are some interesting Q&A from the interview....

GLAMOUR: Well, you look great! Speaking of which, you are considered a style icon.

SJP: That’s hilarious.

GLAMOUR: But you are! So how would you characterize your own style?

SJP: I really love beautiful, well-made clothes. I don’t shop [a lot], so I tend to have pieces for a long time. I like mixing vintage with newer designers.

GLAMOUR: Flash back to 1984, when you were in Footloose. What were you wearing then?

SJP: In the eighties, I was wearing a lot of work boots and oversize men’s dinner jackets and floppy hats with flowers. I was making every mistake that was appropriate for the time. Eighty percent of pictures from that period deserve a cringe, but I don’t because I enjoyed it!

GLAMOUR: How would you say your style has evolved over the years?

SJP: It’s just simpler; I don’t buy anything trendy. I used to be more easily seduced by some momentary idea of what was fashionable. Now I’m slightly savvier. I still have the same ideas in my head about what looks good on me and what doesn’t. I still will not wear turtlenecks.

GLAMOUR: Why not?

SJP: I feel like I’m having a panic attack in them. I’m so short that the little bit of height I have is taken and consumed by the turtleneck. My son won’t wear them, either!

GLAMOUR: Tell us what you love wearing right now.

SJP: In the very casual department, two companies sent me jeans I wasn’t familiar with, and they’re really good: One is by a company called Closed. The other is Malibu, and they make jeans that have cashmere in them, but you can toss them in the wash. And I always reach for this black Guy Laroche dress that I’ve had for 10 years: I’ve worn it to birthdays, funerals, everything. I’ve never dry-cleaned it!
